8th District

The 8th Congressional District of Texas includes all of Montgomery, Walker, San Jacinto, Polk, Tyler, Jasper, Hardin, Newton, and Orange counties as well as portions of Trinity and Liberty counties.  The area is unique in Texas as it has proximity to Houston, while maintaining a quiet, country feel.  The 8th district is a community that believes that religion and family come first.  The 8th district is known for its outstanding schools, friendly neighbors, and strong local businesses.  Economic development in the area has been enhanced by both corporations and agriculture, which provide a foundation for the community.

The 8th district is committed to maintaining the 86,000 acre Big Thicket National Preserve and the other forests, meadows, and wetlands in the area.  The community has worked hard to create a balance between development and nature which is hard to find in other areas of the state.

The 8th district is home of the Lone Star flag design that is currently used as the State flag of Texas.  The communities of the district are home to the most patriotic people in the country who believe that princinples of our Founding Fathers are still alive.  Tyler Russell is a proud resident of Texas District 8 and looks forward to working to continue the tradition of leadership started in our community.
